Sea Legends: Phantasmal Light Collector's Edition is a hidden-object adventure that takes place in an unknown island. You play Jane, a girl that is in search of her husband, who is lost after a shipwreck. Your goal will be to explore the place in search of Mike as you unveil the secrets of the island and the mystery behind in the lighthouse.
Sea Legends plays mostly as a point-and-click adventure combined with puzzles and mini games of all types. The gameplay is entirely focused on collecting objects: tools, padlocks, keys to open locked doors, pieces of a puzzle, etc., which can be obtained from HOG scenes, mini games, or just as you walk around the game. You will need to explore every scene with your mouse to find clues and pay attention to cursor changes, as they will show you the different riddles you need to solve.
Hidden-object scenes present the usual list of items and include names in blue that require more interaction with the environment; that is, you may need to look inside a drawer, beneath rocks, inside pockets, etc. The hint system works as in other games of the genre; hints are unlimited but to use them again you need to wait until they are reloaded. The hint button also works outside HOG scenes, and is very useful to know if there is a pending task or if you can go to explore some other place. As new locations are unlocked, the playing area becomes really extensive and you will often need to walk back to revisit locations. Unfortunately, there isn't a map allowing you to move among the different game areas.
Aside from a good eye to spot hidden objects, you will need to use your intuition and puzzle-solving skills to follow the clues and make the connections among them in order to advance in the story.
As for the graphics, the game looks great, there is a lot of details in every environment and the dark, gloomy atmosphere that the game proposes is very well rendered. The music and sound effects also help to increase suspense and reinforce the eerie mood.
In short, this is another title in hidden-object adventure world that follows the typical genre formula and does not disappoint: it has an extensive area to explore with plenty of puzzles to solve, plus a thrilling story that manages to keep you intrigued throughout the game.
